If you are having a hard time picking out the perfect gift for that special someone, your decision may have just become a lot easier. According to an annual Nielsen study, the iPad tops the list of the most wanted electronics product, with both kids and adults coveting Apple's tablet over other tablets, smartphones, computers, eReaders and gaming consoles.
The recent release of Nintendo's Wii U gave the iPad a little bit of competition for those under 13, but the iPad still commanded a strong lead with 48% of respondents putting the iPad on their wishlist compared to 39% listing the Wii U. Apple products rounded out the rest of the top five with the iPod Touch and iPad Mini tied for the third at 36% and 33% hoping for an iPhone.
The 13-and-over crowd still put the iPad as their top choice, though many also hold other tablets in high regard. The iPad was on 21% of the lists followed by a computer at 19%, a non-Apple tablet at 18%, a Wii-U at 17% and an iPhone at 14%.
It would also seem to be a good year for giving an iPad. Not only is the iPad Mini a cheaper alternative than was available in previous years, it could also fit in some stockings. Though I'm not sure you want to hang it over your fireplace if you are planning on actually starting a fire.
