It didn't take long for the iPad Mini to have its first official rumor. A rather cryptic message by RBC Capital Markets analyst Doug Freedman is being used as fodder for the possibility of a new iPad Mini being launched earlier than expected.
"iPad Mini Gen-2: Apple's gen-2 iPad mini is getting pulled-in, and is likely to have several new suppliers, with TXN gaining content," Freedman writes.
I'm not sure how that gets interpreted as... anything. It's pretty ambiguous. But that didn't stop CNET from interpreting it as Apple moving up the production timetable for the next iPad Mini.
That's not a rumor I would buy in on at this point. Expect the iPad Mini to hit in the Sept-Nov timeframe. One bit of speculation about the iPad Mini 2 I do think will come true is a Retina Display for the 7.9-inch device. And that might explain why Apple priced the tablet at $329 rather than $299 or less.
