In never takes long for the rumormill to heat up a guessing game of "When will the next iPad be released?" Thus far, the rumors have ranged from a new iPad early this year to a new iPad in the third quarter of 2013, but the only thing we can really say with any certainty is the vast majority of these rumors will end up false.
The iPad 5 will most likely be released in October or early November, around a year after the iPad 4 was released. Despite releasing the iPad 4 just eight months after the iPad 3, Apple prefers releasing products on a yearly basis. And with only a few exceptions, the iPad and iPhone have both maintained a relatively predictable schedule.
Why release the iPad 4 early? The best guess is that Apple wanted to release their much-anticipated iPad Mini for the holidays, wanted the iPad Mini to be on the same release schedule as the full-sized iPad and wanted to move the annual release of the full-sized iPad to the holiday season.
Apple may move the iPad an early November release date to an early-mid October release date to give holiday shoppers more elbow room, but don't expect any major change to the release schedule. And while rumors of an early release of a new iPad Mini with a Retina Display have already started making the rounds, it will most likely be announced alongside the full-sized iPad and have a release date in that same range.
