It can be a good idea to turn off 3G and 4G when you are not using it on your iPad. This helps keep your cellular data from accidentally being used when you walk out of Wi-Fi range, which is important considering how easy it is to exceed your iPad's data cap when streaming a movie or TV show to your iPad. Turning off 3G and 4G is also a great way to conserve battery power on your iPad.
Luckily, it is pretty easy to turn the data connection off.
- First, you will need to pull up your iPad's settings. This is the icon that looks like gears in motion.
- Locate Cellular Data on the left-side menu. The iPad will tell you if it is on or off from the menu, but you will need to touch it and go into the Cellular Data settings to turn it off.
- Once in the Cellular Data settings, it is as simple as turning the switch at the top from on to off. This will disable the 3G/4G connection and force all Internet activity to go through Wi-Fi.
Note: This will not cancel your 4G/3G account. To cancel your account, you will need to go into the View Account settings and cancel it from there.
